Psalm 33:18-22 (The Message)

18-19 Watch this: God’s eye is on those who respect him,
the ones who are looking for his love.
He’s ready to come to their rescue in bad times;
in lean times he keeps body and soul together.

20-22 We’re depending on God;
he’s everything we need.
What’s more, our hearts brim with joy
since we’ve taken for our own his holy name.
Love us, God, with all you’ve got—
that’s what we’re depending on.

Psalm 34: 17-20 (The Message)

17 Is anyone crying for help? God is listening,
ready to rescue you.

18 If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there;
if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.

19 Disciples so often get into trouble;
still, God is there every time.

20 He’s your bodyguard, shielding every bone;
not even a finger gets broken.

I seek the Lord’s face, His beloved presence this morning, in the dry and thirsty land of my spirit. More than life itself, my soul thirsts for the life of the Spirit… to be satisfied with the healing balm of Gilead, to be filled with joy and power for a new day. Lord, satisfy my soul, my spirit, this day. As His disciple, I recognize that I so often “get in trouble,” but yes, God is there every time, to lift me up, to protect and shield me, to set me on the right path.

I will bless you while I live… I will lift up my hands in your name, Lord.

Discovering Christianity… >>>>>

I come into your presence, Lord Jesus
With heavy heart, with my spirit hungry for you.
I run to you, into your open arms of grace.
Draw me to yourself, Lord; let me look upon your face.

I will run to the hiding place.. to the secret space.

Third Millennium Ministries’ mission is to equip church leaders in their own lands by creating a multimedia seminary curriculum in five major languages.

The curriculum is designed to be used in support of existing schools, as well as by groups and individuals. It consists of three central elements: graphic-driven videos, printed instruction and internet resources.

Reflections on Psalm 139

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

There is no where I can go and find God unavailable…He is always with me and there for me.

Joshua 1:5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

  • In times of difficulty
  • In times of victory
  • In times of rebellion
  • In times of faithfulness
  • In times of questioning
  • In times of certainty
  • In times of insecurity
  • In times of confidence

The question I ask of myself is ‘where do I go?’ in those times. There are times when I go on a journey away. Away from people. Away from emotions. Away from decisions. Away from pain. Away from vulnerability.

Yet time after time I discover that God is there at the end of the journey. And time after time he leads me back from where I have come. In the journey back he brings healing, reassurance, courage and vision.

We believe that God is grace and will yearn for us to be in his arms. He will look for us, find us and embrace us. Yet there is something within that will attempt to sabotage his grace.

I thank God for his incessant and interrupted love for me. He never withholds his presence from us. He never scolds us or rejects us. He is for us not against us.

For personal or group response and reflection:

What stands out to you in this scripture?

Can you illustrate the truth in this scripture from your own experience?

What do you think God is saying to you and us today in this scripture?

Read the scriptures above. Ask each other the questions one at a time. Allow time for the whole group to answer and see where God takes you as the truth takes root in you.
